Metropolis of Troy, ridden by Ryan Moore, claimed victory within the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
The favorite, who gained the Derby final month, held off a late problem by Al Riffa to triumph by a size.
“I assumed he’d win higher right now,” Moore advised ITV Racing. “The bottom is slower than what he needs.
“I received it mistaken. I by no means actually received it out of him till I needed to. There was much more in there. He nonetheless received the job executed.”
Metropolis of Troy is the primary Derby winner to win the Eclipse – the place the three-year-old Basic era tackle their elders – since Golden Horn 9 years in the past.
