The squads for the upcoming India vs Sri Lanka T20I and ODI series will be announced on June 16. The series marks the first assignment for new head coach Gautam Gambhir who has taken over the reins from Rahul Dravid. The three-match T20I series will commence from July 27 while the ODI leg will begin from August 2.

Senior stars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to be rested for the upcoming ODI series. However, reports claim that Gambhir has requested the trio to participate in the white-ball series.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has reportedly informed the BCCI that he would skip the ODI series owing to personal reasons. With the BCCI deliberating on Pandya’s fitness, it is expected to be seen if he will be named the T20I captain for the IND vs SL series.
Young stars, including Shubman Gill – who led the side in the series against Zimbabwe – are expected to grab spots in both ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series.
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, both stars who were left out of India’s T20 World Cup squad, are expected to return to the side for the 50-over format. However, there is no clarity on if keeper-batter Ishan Kishan would make his comeback after being sidelined at the start of this year.
